How do I access library resources off-campus?

EBSCOhost, JSTOR, and Issues & Controversies can all be accessed off-campus with the same password. You should already have the password in your BMC email in one of the library updates we send out. If not, you can always email us for the current password.

What if I can't find what I need?

If you know the title you are looking for, you can request it on interlibrary loan. If not, come by or contact us to talk about your research needs. We are happy to help you get what you need for your research projects.

How do I renew books?

Log in to your account in our online catalog. Your username is the first part of your email address (ex. if someone@bmc.edu is your email address, "someone" is your username), and your password is your student ID number without the A and with two zeros added at the front (ex. if your ID number is A123456, your password is 00123456). You can also call or email us to renew items for you or report a problem with your account.

Policies

Borrowing:

Materials may be checked out from both Guyton Library and its second location, the Curriculum Lab. Books are checked out for three-week periods and may be renewed up to three times. Librarians may allow books to be kept longer at their discretion.

Fines:

Late materials incur fines of $0.10 per day, per item. To avoid fines, remember to return items on time or renew them before they are due. If special circumstances prevent items from being returned on time, please contact a librarian. Excessive fines may result in a loss of borrowing privileges.

Lost or damaged items:

A replacement fee for lost or damaged items will be assessed by a librarian and added to the user's account.

Interlibrary Loan:

Interlibrary loan books are books we borrow from other libraries from around the nation. Borrowing terms are set by the lending library and Returning books on time is critical for maintaining good relationships with these libraries. Fines for overdue interlibrary loan books are $1.00 per day, per item. Replacement fees for lost or damaged interlibrary loan books will be assessed by a librarian and the lending library. Failure to return books on time or pick up requested books may result in a loss of borrowing privileges.

Computers:

Guyton Library is not responsible for lost data. Please save your files to your personal file storage as files stored on library computers are routinely deleted. Guyton Library is also not responsible for unauthorized use of accounts left logged in to library computers. Always log out of your accounts before leaving the computer.
